ZyXEL Tokens – Two is Better than One!
ZyXEL's new OTPv2 (One-time Password) authentication solution has been enhanced to
o er more security when there are authorised individuals accessing your organisation's
sensitive information from a remote location, enabling business, protecting data
con dentiality, lowering IT costs, and boosting user productivity.
Strong Two-Factor Authentication Solution
Security requirements start with ensuring that
only authorised people have the right to remotely
access the protected network applications and
resources. Traditionally the static password
approach is used which can more easily be
accessed by an unauthorised intruder given
enough attempts and time. With an OTP-token
(One-time Password), the risk is greatly reduced
by an automatic regeneration of a new password
every time it is used . The ZyWALL OTPv2 token
is a chip-based authentication token, o ers a
6-digit numeric PIN, and can be used alongside
a password for strong two-factor authentication.
The ZyWALL OTPv2 solution (Starter pack)
includes the software package for the
back-end OTPv2 authentication, and can easily be
integrated with ZyWALL security solution.
Investment Protection
Traditionally OTP tokens have been quick to
expire, and it has been time consuming and
expensive for network administrators to provision
new tokens and re-con gure for all users.
One advantage of the new ZyXEL OTP solution
is the long battery life of 3++ years or 14,000
clicks. Also the housing is based on hard-moulded
plastic which is very robust, making it more hard-
wearing.. The OTPv2 support both 32-bit and
64-bit Windows operating systems, additionally
Vista, Windows 2008 Server, as well as Windows
2003 and Windows XP.

High Speed Networking
With the new MI-7526F 10Gb line card, ZyXEL brings a high-performance extension of
the 7000 family of switches to the market. In addition to 20 GbE XFP ports and four
dual-personality GbE ports, there is an option slot for one EM4xx Module to support
either two 10Gb Fibre XFPs or 2 CX4 connections. This enables high speed connectivity
with other 7000 Series or XGS 4500 Series of switches from ZyXEL or servers supporting
10Gb XFP or CX4 connections.
10 Gigabit Backplane Interface
Driven by high-bandwidth converged services,
such as teleconferencing, video, surveillance,
storage and system backup, businesses need
non blocking architecture to deal with the
increasing demands of tra c on the network.
The ZyXEL 7000 Series Switch supports up to
four 10Gb interface I/O modules (MI-7526F),
each providing up to two 10Gb interfaces. This
means that businesses can easily connect the
network core to high-bandwidth applications,
such as servers in the data center or directly
distribute 10Gb connectivity as links to other
switches in the network. The use of the new card
requires a rmware release of 3.85 or higher.
10 Gigabit CX4 or XFP Support
The MI-7526F line card supports either the
ZyXEL EM-412 or ZyXEL EM-422 module. The
EM-412 provides two 10GBase-CX4 full-duplex
ports, while the EM-422 allows two 10GbE
XFP transceivers for either long or short-range
(XFP-LR, single mode and up to 10 km XFP SR,
multimode up to 300 m).
